Before we officially kick off the 2016-17 season, let’s take a look back at the Top 5 Fights of the 2015-16 season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are not known as a team composed of goons and bruisers, yet they still had quite a few dust-ups on the ice this season. It took some time before the Lighting began swinging their fists, as the first fight of the season occurred on November 28th, 2015. Not long after that, they started throwing down the gloves about every 4 games, on average.

Typically, fights occur when players start getting ‘chirpy’ and doing things that get under the skin of their opponents. Sometimes, though, a fight is a process of intimidation, a method of forcing your opponent to back down when he becomes overly aggressive. The following are examples of both methods.

Over the course of the next few slides, we are going to see a lot of familiar faces. There are players who have a reputation that precedes them, and others that simply had enough and decided to throw the gloves to the ice and take matters into their own hands. No matter how technical a player may be, sometimes you’ve just gotta do what you’ve gotta do.

Whether these fights are from a deep-rooted rivalry or a new one that popped up over the course of the season, these are some of the battles that were so good we just had to take another look before we kick off the 2016-17 season and get ready to do it all over again.
