The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled forward Adam Erne from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been put through the wringer this season when it comes to the insane amount of injuries the team has been forced to deal with so far this season. Unfortunately, as the Lightning quickly approaches the halfway point in the season, things don’t look to be getting any better for the Bolts.

On New Year’s Eve as the Tampa Bay Lightning took on the Carolina Hurricanes at the Amalie Arena, another Lightning player would fall to the blasted injury bug. In the second period, Lightning forward Brian Boyle would be forced to leave the game. Unfortunately, it would later be announced he had sustained a lower-body injury.

As the Lightning prepare to take on the Winnipeg Jets in the first game of 2017, the Bolts would need to be ready for the grim possibility that Boyle may not be able to play. Thankfully, the Tampa Bay Lightning have plenty of capable players just dying to show the world what they can do in the National Hockey League.

On Sunday evening, the Tampa Bay Lightning recalled forward Adam Erne from the Lightning’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. Depending on how things play out over the course of the next 24 hours, Erne could make his NHL debut on Tuesday night when the Bolts battle the Jets.

Erne has had a pretty good season thus far with the Crunch. The 21-year-old Lightning forward has played in 31 games with the Crunch so far. In that amount of time, Erne has scored eight goals and 10 assists for a total of 18 points. This places Erne in fifth place on the team in overall points.

The Tampa Bay Lightning fell face first into quite the slump for a while this season but judging by the way the team has played over the course of the last couple of games, they are finally starting to find a way to effectively work together despite all the chaos going on right now.

There is still a lot of work to be done if the Tampa Bay Lightning wants to find themselves in the picture when the postseason rolls around, but if there is any team in the National Hockey League who has been forged by fire, as they say, it’s the Lightning.

We don’t know about you, but we are actively excited at the prospect of seeing Adam Erne take the ice with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. Erne has been one of our favorite prospects ever since he was drafted by the Bolts in the 2nd Round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. It’ll be interesting to see how he responds to the opportunity presented to him.
