FanSided Friday: Bolts By The Bay Edition
Happy Friday Bolts Nation! We are now five days removed from the NHL All Star Break and have gladly welcomed back our Bolts in Blue to the ice of the Tampa Bay Times Forum, and what a exciting week of Tampa Hockey it has been. The Lightning played two games this week against divisional foes, the Washington Capitals and the Winnipeg Jets, during which we saw both games go to overtime with different results. On Tuesday’s game against the Capitals we watched as Steven Stamkos potted yet another OT winner, notching his 33rd league-leading goal of the season (For more [...]
It was announced on Thursday that 22-year-old centre Steven Stamkos will be the sole representative of the Tampa Bay Lightning at this year’s All-Star game. Stamkos was selected by the league itself to participate as players from the Ottawa Senators claimed all three forward positions during the fan vote. Stamkos currently leads the league in goals with 29 – five more than Phil Kessel, who sits in second-place and was also selected by the league to participate in the All-Star game. Stamkos has 48 points in 42 games this season and, despite the Bolts’ struggles, he has managed to keep [...]
Canada’s Connolly Comes “Home” With Bronze
Team Canada faced off against Team Finland for the second time in the World Junior Hockey Championship on Thursday and won with a score of 4-0 to secure the tournament’s bronze medal. The victory was bitter-sweet as the Canadians fell to the Russians for the second year in a row, keeping them from playing in the gold medal game in front of their adoring Alberta fans.

Malone VS Campoli: A Fair Decision?
By now you have all heard that a decision was reached by Brendan Shanahan regarding Ryan Malone’s hit on Chris Campoli of The Montreal Canadiens. The NHL Department Of Player Safety has decided not to suspend Malone based on several different factors. You can view Mr. Shanahan’s video explanation here and take the poll to give us feedback as to if you feel the right decision was made or not.

Ryan Malone will not be suspended for his hit on Montreal Canadiens’ Chris Campoli in Saturday’s preseason game. Brendan Shanahan, NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety and Hockey Operations, carefully reviewed the hit and said it was the hardest one to make a decision on so far. The decision was difficult mainly because Malone’s hit was directly to Campoli’s head. The decision was made based upon the fact that Campoli’s head position changed prior to contact being made. “There are elements about the hit that we don’t like – specifically, the principal point of contact being the head and [...]
