As the Lightning rest during this much needed break, let’s take some time as fans to appreciate the current position. The All-Star break is upon us already. Right before the All-Star break, the Tampa Bay Lightning had finished with a 4 game winning streak. First bringing in a win at home against the Boston Bruins, and back-to-back games in Dallas and Phoenix. On Wednesday, Lightning won their fourth straight game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at home. The four game winning streak is the longest streak of the season so far. The win against the Blue Jackets brought the Lightning record to 21-23-4 and leaves them at 11th place in the East and 23rd overall. Hockey fans are a tight knit community. More so than any other sport, at least in my experience. Especially Tampa Bay fans. I can’t tell you how many true friends that I’ve made since getting socially involved with The Lightning community. I met my best friend and husband through Bolt Nation. As a friend said last night, we’re a crazy hockey family. 

Straight away, keep in mind that I’m being silly with my title. Anyone really paying attention may have surmised by title alone that I am referring to Tampa Bay Lightning minder of the nets, Dwayne Roloson. The Lightning face a back to back on the road tonight against The Phoenix Coyotes. One of the big stories is the fact that Dwayne Roloson will be up against former Bolt Mike Smith. Another story is that The Lightning have snapped their seven game losing streak with an emotional win against Boston, which fueled a second win against Dallas last night. This was the first victory on the road in six games. 

As much as there has been recent conjecture as to the ability of Lightning goalie Dwyane Roloson to man the nets, a smattering of inane chatter regarding Coach Guy Boucher’s bench boss seat either being traded or becoming hot enough to let him go and be replaced and the “out of left field” (because a certain member of press out there may as just be covering baseball instead of hockey) notion that GM Steve Yzerman’s sophomore year is a failure already, there have also been more than a few thoughts expressed as to the contributions of Vinny Lecavalier to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
