Tampa Bay Lightning Fans React To The Radko Gudas Trade

Tampa Bay Lightning fans grimace as the Philadelphia Flyers fans rejoice over the exchange of Radko Gudas for Braydon Coburn.

The Tampa Bay Lightning has been utterly silent in terms of the NHL Trade Deadline, and then much like last season seems to open up the flood gates in the wee hours of the morning on the day of the deadline. This year, people are just as stirred as they were last season; if not a little more.

The trade that seems to be on the tips of everyone’s tongue is the trade that saw defenseman Radko Gudas, as well as a 1st and 3rd Round Pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, head to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman Braydon Coburn.

While both of these players are not particularly offensive defensemen, Gudas had become somewhat of a legend here in Hockey Paradise for his hard-hitting play and his ability to break up a play in the most crucial of moments.

As you can imagine, many Tampa Bay Lightning fans are not exactly pleased with the trade. Of course, one never reacts well when you go from radio silence to a flurry of moves in a matter of moments, but that is another story for another time.

On the other side of the ice, the Philadelphia Flyers fans seem rather excited at their new acquisition and can’t wait to see him get down to business in Flyers Orange and White.

As we all sit back and try to take everything in, let’s take a look at what some of you – both Lightning and Flyers fans – have to say about the trade that is beginning to break the internet here in the wee hours of the Trade Deadline morning.

Like we mentioned before, the Tampa Bay Lightning fans are rather sad to see the 24 year old Czech defenseman go, while others just wish him well with his new team.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Flyers fans seem over the moon at their new acquisition. Then again, why wouldn’t they? Philly has always had a very physical game, and someone like Gudas who is pretty close to the top guy here in Tampa Bay in that respect will fit in perfectly to their game. (No matter how much we’d like to deny it.)

We have a feeling that this is not going to be the last move we see before the 3:00 p.m. deadline, but we are going to have to wait just a little while longer to see what else Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman has in store for us today.

What did you think of the Radko Gudas/Braydon Coburn trade? Which team do you think got the bigger end of the stick in this one? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
