The Tampa Bay Lightning has made one of their first moves heading into the NHL Trade Deadline as Brett Connolly has been traded to the Boston Bruins.
The Tampa Bay Lightning has been pretty silent in terms of trades heading into this afternoon’s impending NHL Trade Deadline, but it seems as if Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman is burning the midnight oil at 401 Channelside tonight.
According to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Brett Connolly has been traded to the Boston Bruins in exchange for two 2nd Round Picks, one in the 2015 NHL Draft and the other in 2016.
We don’t know about you, but this sounds like a small part of a much bigger deal about to go on. While Connolly may not have been a top line player, he has definitely shown signs of improvement this season and had earned his spot on the Tampa Bay Lightning roster.
So far this season, Connolly has suited up for 50 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning. In that period of time, the young British Columbia native has scored 12 goals and 3 assists for a total of 15 points to accompany his plus-4 rating.
The 2014-15 season is Connolly’s fifth on the Lightning roster. Throughout his career with the Lightning, the twenty two year old winger has played in a total of 134 games resulting in 18 goals and 14 assists for a total of 32 points.
Connolly also spent two seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch. In those two seasons, Connolly suited up for 137 games which resulted in 52 goals and 68 assists for a total of 120 points.
Brett Connolly was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1st Round (6th Overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
We here at Bolts By The Bay would like to wish Brett Connolly the best of luck in all of his future endeavors in the NHL team. We will always be rooting for you, except when you make your way back to town in a Bruins’ jersey of course.
