The 2015 NHL Draft is right around the corner, but before all the GMs and Scouts in the NHL head to Sunrise, here is a look at what a full seven round draft could look like for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Tampa Bay Lightning, fresh off a heartbreaking loss to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals, will look to add more impressive prospects to a pipeline that continues to bring in quality players to the NHL roster.
Since Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman took over control of the team in 2011, the Lightning organization has continued to draft well and fill it’s prospects pool with outstanding young talent that eventually makes an impact on the team down the road.
We’ve seen some of Yzerman’s most recent drafts pick up key pieces that make up the teams young core. Whether it be high round draft picks such as Jonathan Drouin and Nikita Kucherov, or late round selections such as Ondrej Palat and Nikita Nesterov, it seems like Yzerman and Director of Amateur Scouting Al Murray both have quite the eye for discovering young talent.
Moving on to this years draft, there are many young prospects that could come in and help the Lightning a few years down the road. Whether that be a young puck moving defenseman or a projected hefty third line power forward, the Lightning will look to refill a prospect pool who’s top talent will soon be making the jump to the NHL level.
Before everything kicks into high gear on Friday, let’s take a look at what a full seven round draft could look like for the Tampa Bay Lightning in our very own mock draft.
