Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Erik Condra had an exciting weekend as he and his wife welcomed their baby girl into the world.

The Tampa Bay Lightning has been on a heck of a rollercoaster ride this season, filled with many twists and turns. The latest in the Lightning’s journey was their 3-0 shutout victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night; however, for one player in particular, it would be what would happen just a few hours later that would change the outlook of his life forever.

Just a matter of hours after the Tampa Bay Lightning claimed victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, Lightning right wing Erik Condra’s wife brought the couple’s baby girl into the world. According to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, the newest addition to the Condra family is named Ellery and was born at 3:21 a.m. weighing a healthy seven pounds.

As we said before, this has been quite a rollercoaster for Erik Condra. In Monday night’s matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the 29-year-old Lightning forward scored two assists.

The first of those two assists came just over seven minutes into the first period on the goal from recently recalled Lightning winger Mike Blunden. Condra’s second assist of the night was in the third period on the third and final goal of the night, scored by Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman. Who knew just a few hours later Erik Condra would be assisting in bringing a new life into the world?

Unfortunately, the veteran Lightning forward wouldn’t have a lot of time to spend with his expanding family before getting back down to business with the Tampa Bay Lightning in the final six games of the regular season. On Thursday, the Tampa Bay Lightning will charge back into the Amalie Arena to take on the Montreal Canadiens in another must-win game.

While there is no denying some part of his mind will be at home with his wife and newborn daughter, Tampa Bay Lightning fans hope another part of his mind is focused on the task at hand. With only six more games left in the regular season, including tonight’s matchup against the Montreal Canadiens, there is no room for error. Bringing home the two points is more important now than it has ever been this season.

We here at Bolts By The Bay would like to send our sincere congratulations to Erik Condra, his wife, and their new baby Ellery as they embark on a brand new journey in life. If he thinks a hip check from an opponent is hard work, wait until he is on bottle duty at 3 a.m. All kidding aside, we’re sure this new daddy will be just fine.
