The Tampa Bay Lightning have been a quite the rollercoaster this season, and as the off-season continues on Lightning fans search for answers to some burning questions.

The entire hockey world has been on a rollercoaster of emotions as of late. As the Pittsburgh Penguins celebrate their victory over the San Jose Sharks as they hoist the Stanley Cup high above their heads, hockey fans around the world mourn the passing of “Mr. Hockey” Gordie Howe.

Despite the highs and lows, the off-season presses on. For those here in the Bolts Nation, there are many questions still left unanswered. Will Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman be able to re-sign Lightning captain Steven Stamkos? What will the Lightning have to sacrifice to get the job done? Which players will remain on the Lightning roster when they hit the ice for the 2016-17 season?

These are just some of the questions on the top of the heads of Tampa Bay Lightning fans. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait just a little longer for the bigger picture to come into view. We are still a couple of weeks away from the 2016 NHL Draft. From there, we look forward to the start of the Free Agency Period which starts on July 1st.

While we sit back and wait for the answers to some of the aforementioned questions, let’s take a look at what is transpiring both here in the Bolts Nation and around the rest of the National Hockey League today.

As we mentioned before, the Tampa Bay Lightning have their attentions focused on the 2016-17 season and the steps that need to be taken in order to build a winning team moving forward. One of the many steps on the way to building this team is Prospect Development Camp. This is where the best and brightest prospects in the Bolts Development System come together with the newest draftees to showcase their talents for the team.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have officially announced the dates for their annual Prospect Development Camp. The excitement is set to kick off on June 28th at the Ice Sports Forum in Brandon. The event is free and open to the general public. (Bolts By The Bay)

Despite what some fans may think, the sport of hockey extends far beyond the ice. When all is said and done, in addition to being the greatest sport on the planet, hockey is a business. In any business, there are going to be sponsors, partnerships, and various other deals. If you have ever seen the inside of the boards, you know that each team has a number of sponsors to help them along the way.

It seems the Tampa Bay Lightning have aligned themselves with a new partner as they make their way into the 2016-17 season. The Lightning announced today via their official site that they have signed a three-year partnership agreement with Tampa RV. While this may seem like an unlikely partnership, it means good things for the Lightning organization; more specifically, the Lightning High School Hockey League. (Tampa Bay Lightning)

As anyone who has bought tickets to a Tampa Bay Lightning game over the course of the last few seasons knows the Lightning have many different ticket options. In addition to your traditional three levels of seating, there are club seats, all-inclusive seats, 10-game packs, and much more. The same thing applies to the Tampa Bay Lightning’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.

The Syracuse Crunch has announced a ticket package that will make a perfect gift for Father’s Day. The Crunch has a new ticket package that gives fans ticket vouchers to a Crunch game in addition to passes for a round of golf at the Greenview Country Club. (Syracuse Crunch)

News Around The National Hockey League

Much like the Tampa Bay Lightning, there are teams in the NHL who will be making changes both on and off the ice before the start of the 2016-17 season. One of those teams is the Anaheim Ducks. After the Ducks were eliminated from the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Nashville Predators, the team decided to part ways with Head Coach Bruce Boudreau.

Surprisingly, it didn’t take the Anaheim Ducks very long to find someone to fill Bruce Boudreau’s shoes. All it took was a look to an old friend. The Anaheim Ducks have hired former Head Coach Randy Carlyle to lead the team into the 2016-17 season. (Pucks of a Feather)

On Wednesday afternoon, the door opens for the 30 teams in the National Hockey League to decide which players’ contracts (if any) they plan to buyout before the start of the 2016-17 season. We’re sure there are plenty of opinions on who Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman should use a buyout on, but that’s a different story for a different time.

There is one team in the National Hockey League who fans have already started to aim their icy gaze at when it comes to a contract buyout, the Toronto Maple Leafs. We all know who they’re making room for, we digress. Editor Tim Chiasson over at Editor In Leaf feels the Maple Leafs defenseman Jared Cowen will be the likely candidate for the team’s buyout. It’s always a difficult situation when a fan of a particular team finds themselves disenfranchised from their favorite sports teams. Unfortunately, there are many reasons why a person may have to leave their hometown; be it work, family, or any other of the million reasons that could potentially affect someone’s life.

There is only one thing that could potentially make this unfortunate situation twenty million times worse; when the place you are forced to relocate to happens to be in the heart of your team’s mortal enemy. As you can imagine, a Philadelphia Flyers fan trapped in the heart of Pittsburgh Penguins territory is like a first class plane ride into the seventh layer of hell. (Broad Street Buzz)
