Take a seat and relax as we take a look at the latest Tampa Bay Lightning Headlines and other news going on today around the National Hockey League.

Another day has been marked off the calendar, which means we are one day closer to the start of the 2016-17 season. Since the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs came to an end, things have been a little crazy here in the Bolts Nation. There were many players who were in need of new contracts coming into the 2016-17 season and some who would find themselves with a new home.

The good news for those of us here in Tampa Bay is the simple fact that we have someone like Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman pulling the strings behind the scenes to get the job done. Since making his way to the Lightning organization back in 2010, he has done an excellent job of rebuilding the team from the ground up and preparing the team for the future as well as the present.

That being said, we have full faith Yzerman will be able to build on the progress he’s made thus far and lay the very last piece to the puzzle before the start of the 2016-17 season. This isn’t to say Yzerman won’t have his hands full. There is still one very big contract that needs to be handled, but if there is anyone who can get the job done, it’s Steve Yzerman.

Speaking of one of those aforementioned contracts still in need of signing, Lightning defenseman Nikita Nesterov still has not been able to come to an agreement with the Tampa Bay Lightning on the terms of a new contract. While there is still plenty of time to get the job done and the ink to dry on the contract, there are still many questions as to why a deal has yet to be signed. Much like the contract of Nikita Kucherov, there are many things contributing to the day. (Bolts By The Bay)

As some of you may know by now, fans of the National Hockey League are going to get a little bit of bonus hockey this season. Just a couple of weeks before the start of the regular season, the best players from around the world will come together in Toronto for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

One of the players representing the Tampa Bay Lightning in the International Tournament is Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop. As anyone here in the Bolts Nation knows, Ben Bishop has quite a knack for style when it comes to his goaltender helmet. In light of his journey to the 2016 World Cup of Hockey as a member of Team USA, Bishop has quite a snazzy looking helmet to show off for the occasion. (Bolts By The Bay)

While the team may be preparing for their return to the ice in the 2016-17 season, they are not the only ones here in the Bolts Nation preparing for the upcoming season. As some of you may know by now, the Lightning Girls are in search of new members for the 2016-17 squad.

If you are interesting in being a part of the action, as well as donating your time to the community in the Lightning Girls’ many outings in the community, you now have a chance to make that dream a reality. Tomorrow morning, the Lightning Girls will be holding their auditions for the upcoming season. The hottest topic in the world right now is the blockbuster decision the American people have in front of them in November, the Presidential Election.
