The Tampa Bay Lightning has officially recalled forward Cory Conacher from their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are finally ready to get back to business after their recent week-long break. Unfortunately, it seems as if there is a chance the Lightning will be taking the ice without some of their key players.

As most Lightning fans know by now, Lightning forward Tyler Johnson has been forced to miss the last two games with an undisclosed injury. While it has been noted Johnson is feeling better, there is still no guarantee as to whether or not he’ll be ready to take the ice this evening with his teammates.

In addition to Johnson, it seems as if the flu bug has found its way back into the Lightning locker room. This time, it’s Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin who has been bitten. According to Tampa Bay Lightning Beat Writer Bryan Burns, he was absent from this morning’s skate as he was feeling under the weather.

Given the Lightning could potentially be down two players heading into their encounter with the Dallas Stars, a move obviously needed to be made to secure a proper lineup. The Tampa Bay Lightning has elected to recall Syracuse Crunch forward Cory Conacher.

Conacher has had a pretty good time here in the Bolts Nation this season. In his last five games in the Lightning lineup, Conacher has brought home a goal and an assist for a total of two points. Unsurprisingly, the 27-year-old Ontario native has had a spectacular season with the Syracuse Crunch.

Cory Conacher has played in a total of 41 games with the Crunch this season. In those 41 games, Conacher has been able to score 10 goals and 32 assists for a total of 42 points. These numbers put Conacher in first place on the team in assists and second place on the team in overall points.

While it would definitely be nice for the team to get all their injured players back in the lineup, it’s nice to know the Lightning have enough depth players in the organization able to make the trip and rejoin the Lightning lineup at a moment’s notice and keep the team headed in the right direction.

Conacher is incredibly quick on his feet and has excellent puck handling skills. In the event he sees ice time tonight, he will be a tremendous substitute for Tyler Johnson and/or Jonathan Drouin. As game time approaches, the bigger picture will begin to come into focus, and we’ll know more about tonight’s lineup.
