The Tampa Bay Lightning will finish off their season-opening homestand as they take on captain Alex Pietrangelo and the St. Louis Blues.

The Tampa Bay Lightning has won three of the four games they have played so far this season. Tonight, the Lightning will finish off their five-game season-opening home stand with a battle against the St. Louis Blues. When the final buzzer sounds, hopefully the Bolts have yet another notch in the win column.

The Blues are in a rather similar position as the Lightning. The difference here is the Blues are coming into tonight’s contest off of a deflating 5-2 loss at the hands of the Lightning’s in-state rivals, the Florida Panthers. This could be both a good thing and a bad thing for the Bolts.

On one hand, a loss like this quells a good amount of momentum and could stall the surging Blues long enough for the Lightning to capitalize. At the same time, it could serve as just the kind of inspiration the team needs to refocus their efforts and get back on track.

If the Tampa Bay Lightning offense continues to play the way they have over the course of the last couple of games, the team will set themselves up to be in a good position when the final buzzer sounds. At the same time, it’s the smallest of miscues which have cost the team to lose their significant lead on more than one occasion.

The one thing we know for sure is when two teams of this caliber come together; it makes for one exciting night of hockey. If you are one of the millions of Bolts fans who weren’t able to score tickets to tonight’s game, we have some good news for you. We have all the info you’ll need to stay on top of the action.

It will definitely be interesting to see how things shake out tonight. Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos has finally broken the ice and picked up his first goal of the season, forward Brayden Point is absolutely on fire so far this season with three goals and four assists, and defenseman Slater Koekkoek has clearly shown why he deserves more time on the ice.

Keeping all of the above factors in mind, the St. Louis Blues are going to have to bring their “A” game if they want to come out on top against the Lightning. Of course, we all know the Bolts are going to have something to say about this.

The only thing hanging in the wind right now is whether or not Lightning netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy will make his fifth-straight start between the pipes or if Peter Budaj will get his first start of the season. As game time nears closer, we’re sure the bigger picture will come into view. Until then, it’s time to paint our faces, throw on our favorite jerseys and prepare our throats for the stress of screaming our heads off.
