Tonight, the Tampa Bay Lightning kick off their first real road trip of the season as they take on their Atlantic Division rivals, the Detroit Red Wings.

The Tampa Bay Lightning has had a pretty tremendous start to the 2017-18 season. In addition to all the pomp and circumstance surrounding the Lightning’s 25th Anniversary Season, the Bolts have kicked off the season with a 4-1-0 record. Their only recorded loss was on Oct. 7 against the Florida Panthers in Sunrise.

Tonight, the Lightning embarks on a new journey. One which will take them to places they have never been. The Lightning will make their way to the Little Caesars Arena in Motown tonight in order to take on their Atlantic Division rivals, the Detroit Red Wings.

Needless to say, there is absolutely no love lost between the Bolts and the Wings, or their fans for that matter. There have been more than a few postseason battles between these two teams and none of these meetings have been without their fair share of bumps in the road. Well…gloves on the ice, we should say.

These two teams find themselves in very similar positions right now. While the Lightning finds themselves in second place in the Atlantic Division right now, who happens to be right on their tails? That’s right…the Detroit Red Wings, that’s who.

Much like the Lightning, the Red Wings are an offensively strong team. All but six of the current Red Wings lineup has yet to register a point so far this season. Ironically enough, the Red Wings first-place player in overall points hasn’t even registered a goal as of yet. The aforementioned player would be defenseman Mike Green, who has eight assists in five games.

Needless to say, tonight’s encounter between the Bolts and the Red Wings is going to be an interesting, high-velocity battle. Lightning fans and Red Wings fans alike definitely won’t want to miss a moment of the action. The good news is, they won’t have to.

Here is a closer look at all the information fans will need in order to make sure they stay on top of all the hockey action between the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning and the Detroit Red Wings tonight from the Wings shiny new home at the Little Caesars Arena.

The Lightning still have some work to do this season when it comes to perfecting their game; however, if the Bolts can continue to play with the consistency and chemistry they have over the course of the last few games, the Boys in Blue should find themselves in a favorable position when they make their way out of Motown.
