The Tampa Bay Lightning extended their win streak to three on Tuesday night as they demolished the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1 at the PNC Arena in Carolina. Tonight, the Lightning is set to face a familiar foe, their Atlantic Division rivals, the Detroit Red Wings.
The Bolts have already met the Red Wings once this season. In their first encounter, which was back on October 16, the Lightning was able to bring home their fifth victory of the season with a 3-2 win. Needless to say, this victory did not come easily. The Bolts and the Wings have a lot of history and it’s always a bit heated when these two teams come together.
On the bright side, the Tampa Bay Lightning have a lot of advantages coming into tonight’s encounter. The Bolts currently lead the National Hockey League with 17 points through their first 10 games of the season. In addition to this, the Bolts have one of the most dangerous line combinations in the league right now; the pairing of Lightning captain Steven Stamkos and forward Nikita Kucherov.
