The Tampa Bay Lightning finish off their back-to-back series with a visit to the Staples Center to take on captain Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings.

The Tampa Bay Lightning had a bit of a challenge in front of them on Saturday night when they took on the Columbus Blue Jackets, and while they were able to persevere, the team had plenty of work to do in order to prepare for their next opponent, the San Jose Sharks.

Well, it seems the team was able to put their time off to very good use. Things started out on the wrong foot last night at the SAP Center in San Jose when Sharks winger Joonas Donskoi put the puck in the back of the net just 24 seconds into the game. Thankfully, the Lightning was having none of the Sharks’ shenanigans.

Five unanswered goals later, the Tampa Bay Lightning found themselves with another two points to add to their Atlantic Division-leading totals. Tonight, the Lightning has a whole new journey in front of them. The Bolts are set to travel to the Staples Center where they will take on captain Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings.

Much like the Lightning, the Kings have had a fairly productive season; so much so that they sit just two spots behind the Lightning in the NHL Standings. Speaking of Anze Kopitar, the 30-year-old forward leads his team in all manners scoring with eight goals and 11 assists for a total of 19 points.

Heating things up for the Bolts has been the trio of captain Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, and Vladislav Namestnikov. Each of these three players registered at least a point last night against the Sharks. Between the three of them, they came up with three goals and six assists for a total of nine points for the trio.

More from Bolts by the Bay

Given the scoring power of the Lightning’s top line, it’s no surprise the NHL Leader Board is filled with Lightning Blue. Nikita Kucherov leads the league in goals, while Steven Stamkos leads the league in both assists and overall points. Also thrown into the mix is Andrei Vasilevskiy, who leads the NHL in Wins.

Needless to say, the Tampa Bay Lightning has everything they need in their arsenal to bring home another two points and make the absolute most of their back-to-back series. The biggest key to a Lightning victory is going to be consistency. The Bolts need to come out hard and find the pace they can maintain throughout 60 mins.

The one thing we here at Bolts By The Bay can guarantee you is Lightning fans won’t want to miss a moment of the action between these two teams tonight from Los Angeles. It’s definitely going to be a late night, but it should be totally worth it.
