The Tampa Bay Lightning continues their road trip with a visit to the KeyBank Center to take on the Buffalo Sabres.

The Tampa Bay Lightning started off Thanksgiving week good with a 3-2 overtime victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. Unfortunately, Black Friday would be just that for the Bolts and their fans, incredibly dark.

The Lightning would kick off a back-to-back Holiday weekend series with a 3-1 loss to captain Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. Regrettably, this was followed up with an incredibly frustrating 5-2 loss to captain Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

While it could easily be argued the referees played a big role in the Lightning’s loss in the Steel City, the fact of the matter is the Lightning left Pittsburgh with two fewer points than they could have, and this is not good for the Bolts have they find themselves with a serious lack of momentum.

The good news here is, the Lightning has an opportunity to turn everything around and get back on the right track. Tonight, the Lightning will charge into the KeyBank Center where they will take on the Buffalo Sabres in their first of four meetings this season.

Needless to say, these two teams are at polar opposites of the Atlantic Division this season. Despite their recent slump, the Tampa Bay Lightning still hold the top spot in the Division with 34 points. At the same time, the Buffalo Sabres are currently holding up the rear with a whole six victories this season.

More from Bolts by the Bay

This doesn’t mean the Lightning can lull themselves into a false sense of security. Just because the record books show the Sabres at the bottom of the Division doesn’t mean their players have a lack of desire to bring home a victory. When a team like the Lightning gets complacent in their abilities, this is the moment they open themselves up to disaster.

The Lightning has a few obstacles in their way at the moment, but regardless, they still possess everything they need in order to come together and work as a team and get back on the right track. All they need do is focus their talents on the task at hand and put one skate in front of the other.

While Lightning fans anxiously await puck drop tonight from Buffalo, let’s take a closer look at all the information fans will need to make sure they stay on top of all the hockey action between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Buffalo Sabres.

Yes, the team is coming into yet another back-to-back series tonight in Buffalo; however, the Lightning has proven earlier in the season they can win on back-to-back nights. This could very well be the opportunity the Bolts have been waiting for in order to right the course. All that’s left to it is to do it.
