Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Calgary Flames: Live Stream, TV Info, How to watch/listen
The Tampa Bay Lightning looks to cap off the first half of the season on a high note as they take on the Calgary Flames at the Amalie Arena.
The Tampa Bay Lightning hit a bit of a bump in the road after the start of 2018. January 4 kicked off a back-to-back losing streak for the Bolts with losses against the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators respectively. Thankfully, this is not the norm for the Bolts and they were quick to get back on track.
The Lightning followed up this bump in the road with victories over the Detroit Red Wings and the Carolina Hurricanes. Now, the Tampa Bay Lightning look to cap off the first half of the season on a high note with a victory over the Calgary Flames in the final game before their upcoming bye week.
The Calgary Flames are coming into tonight’s contest with the same amount of momentum as the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Flames have won their last four games in a row, which include victories over the Chicago Blackhawks, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and the Minnesota Wild.
There is no denying the Flames are really hot right now (no pun intended) but their success hasn’t come without its fair share of trials and tribulations. Two of the Flames’ victories in their most recent win streak came in overtime. (Blackhawks and Wild, respectively)

Coming up against a team like the Lightning won’t be an easy challenge for the Flames. Offensively, the Flames will have to deal with the likes of players like Nikita Kucherov. Kucherov is currently tied with Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin for the league lead in goals at 27 and is in first place in the league in overall points with 60.
In addition to this, the Lightning has a total of three players in the top five in plus/minus rating. Defenseman Victor Hedman leads the pack with a plus-24. Just two spots behind him is his fellow defenseman Anton Stralman, who has been at or near the top of this category for much of the season.
In fourth place in plus/minus is Lightning forward Brayden Point. Point doesn’t get near enough credit for his contributions to the team. The 21-year-old Lightning forward has been an absolute workhorse for the Bolts this season. His speed and his innate ability to be in the right place at the right time has paid dividends for the Bolts this season.
Then, there is the tale of Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. Vasy has been an absolute brick wall this season, leading the NHL in almost all goaltending categories. Right now, Vasilevskiy is leading the NHL in shutouts with six and wins with 27. The 23-year-old netminder is currently in second place in the league in Save Percentage with .933 and Goals Against Average with 2.10.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are definitely the team to beat right now. If the Lightning can continue to play to their abilities and not their opponents, they will certainly find themselves in a comfortable position when the postseason comes calling. Until then, it’s one game at a time. This continues tonight against Calgary.
