Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Louis Domingue has been recalled from the Syracuse Crunch as the Bolts prepare to take on the Vegas Golden Knights.
The moment the Bolts Nation has been waiting for is almost upon us. The Tampa Bay Lightning is getting ready for their return to the ice after their bye week as they prepare to take on the Vegas Golden Knights in their second meeting of the season.
This means the players are making their way back to the Bolts Nation after their time off and getting back to business. There was just one thing missing in this whole scenario; a backup goaltender for Lightning netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy. Yesterday afternoon, the Lightning remedied this situation.
Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced in a Press Release on the Lightning’s official site the team has officially recalled goaltender Louis Domingue from the Lightning’s AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.

There is a good chance Domingue will be spending a lot of quality time here in the Sunshine State over the next couple of weeks. Domingue was originally recalled from the Syracuse Crunch back on December 31 after Lightning goaltender Peter Budaj suffered a Lower-Body Injury against the Philadelphia Flyers two days earlier.
The 25-year-old netminder was re-assigned to the Crunch during the Lightning’s bye week so he could get some time on the ice. Needless to say, Domingue made the very best of his time with the Crunch. Louis Domingue posted back-to-back shutouts against the Rochester Americans and the Binghamton Devils, respectively.
Domingue faced a total of 44 shots over the course of those two games, 27 of which came from the Americans and 17 which came from the Devils. Being the standout goaltender he is, Domingue was able to stop each and every one of those shots and backstop his team to two shutout victories in a row.
Louis Domingue had a pretty good debut for the Tampa Bay Lightning this season. Domingue was between the pipes on January 7 as the Lightning took on the Detroit Red Wings. He faced 36 shots from the Red Wings of which he was able to stop 34 for a Save Percentage of .944.
