Tampa Bay Lightning win in OT after blowing three goal lead
The Tampa Bay Lightning seemed to have things in the bag against the Philadelphia Flyers but ended up winning in OT after blowing a three-goal lead.
Coming off a three-day holiday break, the Tampa Bay Lightning looked to extend the team’s point streak to 13. With some back and forth, the Lightning defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime, 6-5. The Lightning is now 12-0-1 in the last 13 games played.
The first period started with a Flyers goal to take the lead. The Bolts kept their cool, and within a few minutes, Nikita Kucherov scores to tie the game at one. Then in the last few minutes of the period, Brayden Point drew a penalty for a Lightning power play. Point takes advantage and scores to put the Bolts ahead, 2-1.
In the second period, Flyers forward Claude Giroux skates past the defense to tie the game back up at two. Then, the Bolts score three times in the period to have a 5-2 lead going into the third. Steven Stamkos scores twice, once on the power play, and now has 22 goals on the season. Tyler Johnson scored with nine seconds left in the period to give a three-goal lead.

After a successful two periods, the final and third period was the exact opposite. Three different Flyers score to tie the game back up again and cause the Bolts to blow a three-goal lead. The end of regulation results in a tie and the game heads to overtime.
While the one point for overtime results in a 13 game point streak for the Bolts, the team needed to finish strong and finish with a win. Alex Killorn did just that for the Lightning. In just 18 seconds, Killorn skates into the Flyers zone and wins the game.
The Lightning is now 29-7-2 with 60 points on the season. These stats lead the National Hockey League. After a four-point night, Kucherov leads the league with 61 points.
It seems evident that the Bolts players will shine in the upcoming All-Star game in January. Although Bolts Nation needs to prepare for the fact that not all of the Lightning players who should make the team will. Even with 49 and 43 points on the season respectively, Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos may not be All-Stars this year.
The Lightning will take on the Montreal Canadiens this Saturday at the Amalie Arena here in Tampa. Then the Bolts will head out west to California to take on the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, and San Jose Sharks, respectively..
