The Tampa Bay Lightning will charge into the Amalie Arena to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in Game 1 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The moment the Tampa Bay Lightning has been working so tirelessly for all season long is finally upon us. In just a few short hours, the Lightning will charge into the Amalie Arena to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in Game 1 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

After capturing the Presidents’ Trophy for the first time in franchise history, the Lightning is considered the team to beat in the postseason. This means all eyes are going to be on the Lightning as the series progresses. Given the way the Lightning has played this season, it’s pretty clear everyone in the Bolts Nation is in for another wild ride.

The Lightning seemed to have the number of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the regular season. The Bolts definitively swept the season series between them and the Blue Jackets three games to zero. Each of these victories came with at least a four-goal difference.

On October 13, the Lightning dominated the Blue Jackets in an 8-2 victory at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. In their second meeting of the series, the Bolts shutout the Blue Jackets by the score of 4-0. These two teams had their final meeting of the regular season on February 18 where the Lightning defeated the Blue Jackets 5-1. All-in-all the Lightning outscored the Blue Jackets 17-3 over the course of the season series.

Despite the Lightning’s tremendous efforts in the regular season, all of those accomplishments are about to fade to black for the time being. Once the first puck drops to start the postseason, the journey starts anew.

One of the biggest keys to a Lightning victory in this series is going to be taking things on a game-by-game basis. The Lightning needs to stay focused on the task at hand and not get ahead of themselves. The minute a team starts to get comfortable and underestimate their opponent, a door opens that cannot always be closed.

Another key to victory is going to be coming into tonight’s contest with a healthy roster. The Lightning definitely took a step in the right direction yesterday when the team announced defenseman Victor Hedman would be making his return to the lineup for Game 1 against the Blue Jackets.

The Tampa Bay Lightning is preparing for what will hopefully become a deep run in the postseason. Only a matter of hours separates the Lightning from their first date with destiny. While all of us here in the Bolts Nation anxiously await puck drop, here’s a closer look at all the information you’ll need to stay on top of the action.
