The Tampa Bay Lightning is on the brink of elimination as they enter the Nationwide Arena to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in Game 4 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Tampa Bay Lightning finds themselves in a rather unexpected position as they prepare for tonight’s Game 4 action against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Lightning is down 3-0 in the series and is just one game away from a First-Round exit in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In just three short games, the Lightning has gone from the most dominant team in the league and the odds-on favorite to win the Stanley Cup, to one of the biggest choke artists in sports history. The Bolts do have an opportunity to turn things around, but it’s going to take an extensive amount of work to get the job done.

The good news, if you can even say that phrase with a straight face at this point in the series, is the Lightning will go into tonight’s game with the assistance of Nikita Kucherov. Kucherov missed Sunday night’s Game 3 as he served his one-game suspension for his actions against Blue Jackets defenseman Markus Nutivaara in Game 2.

Kucherov dominated in the regular season as the NHL’s scoring leader with 41 goals and 87 assists for a total of 128 points. This earned Kucherov the Art Ross Trophy. Inexplicably, Nikita Kucherov has been non-existent in the postseason. Kucherov is a minus-2 with a mere five shots on goal through two games.

It’s going to take a serious amount of divine intervention for the Lightning to pull themselves out of the ridiculously oversized hole they’ve dug over the past three games. Under no circumstances is this feat impossible, but if the team continues on the same path it will be rather unlikely.

While everyone here in the Bolts Nation nervously awaits puck drop, let’s take a closer look at all the information one will need to stay on top of all the action tonight between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets in Game 4 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Tampa Bay Lightning has one more chance to show the world they can be the team they were during the regular season in the postseason. While it may seem unlikely, there is still a chance for the Lightning to make something out of their opportunity. Quite a few things will have to happen in order for this to become a reality. Here’s hoping the Lightning used the time they have wisely and have devised a plan to get back into the series.
