In the final game of a 5-game road trip, the Tampa Bay Lightning (29-14-1) arrive in Calgary this afternoon to face the Calgary Flames (21-16-9). Puck drop will be at 3:00 p.m. ET and FanDuel currently has the Lightning priced at -104 on the moneyline with the Flames sitting at -115 and an over/under set to 6.

The Lightning were on a roll prior to last game against Edmonton, putting up five straight wins including a historic night for Steven Stamkos against Vancouver. In the most recent game of their road trip, however, the Bolts saw their win streak come to a close at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were huge difference-makers as predicted to be, but Zach Hyman also came through with two goals for the Oilers in a 5-3 loss for the Lightning. A physical game no doubt, the Bolts just couldn’t keep up with the high pace of the Oilers offense and are hoping to rebound here today against the Flames.

The Calgary Flames come into this matchup having only won three of eight games since the start of 2023. They stand four points below Edmonton in the Pacific division standings as they continue to fight for a playoff spot. New additions in Mackenzie Weegar and Nazem Kadri have been key in keeping the team in a lot of close games, but Calgary is still hoping Jonathan Huberdeau can break out the way he did previously with Florida. The Flames are also tied with the San Jose Sharks for the most overtime losses in the league with nine.

This will be the second and final meeting between these teams this season and the Lightning are hoping they can complete the season sweep. Back on November 17, the Bolts routed the Flames 4-1 on the back of two goals from Nikita Kucherov and an outstanding performance by Andrei Vasilevskiy with 39 saves on the night. Tampa Bay will likely look to a similar game plan to best the Flames in Calgary this time around.

INJURIES: Lightning LW Rudolfs Balcers continues to get ready to join the squad while playing with the Syracuse Crunch. Defenseman Nick Perbix is also “day-to-day” and likely questionable to return to this matchup.

Flames RW Brett Ritchie and D Oliver Kylington remain on IR.
