Tampa Bay Lightning at Ottawa Senators Preview
The Tampa Bay Lightning (42-24-6) are looking for their first win on this four-game road trip, the second of which kicks off tonight against the Ottawa Senators (34-32-5). Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. ET, with FanDuel’s odds slightly favoring the Lightning at -150 with an over/under sitting at 6.5.
Tampa Bay lost their final matchup of the season against the Canadiens on Tuesday in heartbreaking 3-2 fashion. Sam Montembeault had a terrific night in net for Montreal, stopping 31 of 33 shots from the Lightning en route to a win. Brayden Point and Pat Maroon were the goal scorers on the night for Tampa Bay, but the Lightning did see one of its former players in Jonathan Drouin have a goal against them on the night. The Bolts will need to refocus here for a battle with an Ottawa team tonight that is racing for a wild cart spot as the regular season dwindles.
Injuries have undoubtedly been a main storyline for the Senators during the course of this season, and they continue to feel the pain with multiple goaltenders and forwards dealing with various ailments. Despite this, they currently occupy the fifth spot in the Atlantic division and are looking to fight for one of the wild card spots in the Eastern conference. They’ve also played well against Atlantic division rivals this season with a 12-7-1 record, in addition to a solid home record of 19-13-3 this season.
The Bolts and Senators have met once earlier this season in Tampa Bay, resulting in a 4-3 win for the Lightning. A back and forth scoring night was capped off by a late goal from Nikita Kucherov to seal the win back on November 1st. The Lightning and Senators will also meet again this season for a third game on April 8th in Ottawa.
INJURIES: No injuries for the Lightning.
Senators goaltenders Anton Forsberg and Cam Talbot have been ruled out along with RW Mathieu Joseph. G Dylan Ferguson and LW Parker Kelly are considered day-to-day.
