Lightning fans have been awaiting an update on Tanner Jeannot following his ugly injury last Thursday in New York against the Islanders. Jeannot’s right leg got tucked under his body while falling after getting tangled up with Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield. Word around his injury was quiet for the first few days following the incident but the news coming out now seems to be good news compared to what many were fearing.
On Saturday we heard the word around Jeannot’s injury was that it “ was not as bad as it could have been”. Hearing this was certainly a sigh of relief as many feared he would be out for the rest of the season.

Today we got our first update from the Lightning’s end of things via Gabby Shirley on where Jeannot stands with the playoffs beginning a week from today. Head Coach Jon Cooper described Jeannot as being “more than day-to-day” and that “hopefully he’ll be back at some point in the playoffs but he’s definitely not going to start”.
Jon Cooper on the health of Tanner Jeannot: “You'd have to sit here and say he's more than day to day. Hopefully, he'll be back here at some point in the playoffs but he's definitely not going to start with us”

He added he could return later in the first round but not in Game 1
The fact Jeannot will not be ready to start the playoffs comes as no surprise. However the fact that his return is not too far on the horizon is great news. If Jeannot is able to return to game action at all in this playoffs, whether it be in the first round or beyond, it will be a very welcome site.
