Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos is set to return to the lineup Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks after missing two games with an undisclosed lower-body injury.

According to coach Jon Cooper, Stamkos took part in the morning skate and will play in Thursday night’s game against the Vancouver Canucks.

Tampa Bay Lightning: The Captain is back

Stamkos has two goals and four points in two games this season. Last season he had 35 goals and 84 points in 81 games.

The Lightning had a poor road trip and lost all three games on the trip.

Cooper has tried to pair Brandon Hagel or Alex Barre-Boulet in his absence with Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point.

Tampa hopes with Stamkos back it can kick start the powerplay, as Tampa only had one powerplay goal on the road trip after scoring twice with the extra man in the opener.

The puck drop is 7 PM tonight at Amalie Arena.
