The Tampa Bay Lightning are on an absolute role with the offense firing on all cylinders. They were back on the ice on Monday against the Philadelphia Flyers and the Lightning struck strong with a 5-1 win to extend their win streak to ten games, keeping January a loss-free month this far.

The Lightning started rolling in the first period with a snap shot by Pontus Holmberg for his seventh goal of the season to put the Lightning on the scoreboard first. He was assisted by Zemgus Girgensons and Yanni Gourde who now has ten assists on the season.

The second period was big for Tampa Bay as they struck for three more goals to really pile it onto the flyers. Jake Guentzel got things going quickly. Just :33 seconds into the period he scored on a deflected shot with assists by Erik Cernak and Brandon Hagel.

Brayden Point joined the party with a backhand shot four minutes later on a power play that went through the posts and made it a 3-0 Lightning lead over the flyers. He was assisted by Oliver Bjorkstrand and Guentzel.

The Flyers struck back an unassisted wrist shot-goal by Christian Dvorak that made it a 3-1 match, but that’s all the Lightning let through their goal.

Hagel answered right back as the period was coming to a close. He scored on a wrist shot assisted by Darren Raddysh and Nikita Kucherov on a power play that extended Tampa’s lead to 4-1.

Kucherov earned himself a second point on the day and his 23rd goal of the season 16:39 into the third period to seal the deal on Tampa’s win. With an empty net on the opposite side of the ice, Kucherov sent a wrist shot through the goal posts with assists by Raddysh (his second of the night and 27th of the season) and Anthony Cirelli.

The Lightning offense had contributions from everyone on Monday as the team rolled to a 5-1 win over the Flyers. They now hold a 28-13-3 record and a 10-game win streak.

The Lightning will return right back to the ice on Tuesday with a 7:00PM EST matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins (21-14-9) in Pennsylvania. They will look to extend their win streak to 11, which would tie their all-time longest team win streak.
