Every year around this time, the more tech-savvy hockey fans around the world prepare themselves to take on the newest addition to EA Sports’ popular hockey video game series.

In just a few more weeks the latest version of the popular game series, NHL 16, will hit shelves in video game stores nationwide. Trust us when we tell you, there are plenty of things that will separate NHL 16 from the other games in the series.

As games continue to look more and more real thanks to the advanced technology in gaming systems like the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, video game manufacturers continually have to up their game if they want to stay on top of the market.

One of the newest features that EA is incorporating into NHL 16 is the out of this world Arena Atmosphere. Basically, while you are controlling the players on the ice, the people in the stands surrounding you will be responding in real time to what is happening on the ice. That’s not even the best part of the whole thing.

This year, they are incorporating team mascots into the game. That’s right ladies and gentlemen…when you play NHL 16 as the Tampa Bay Lightning, if you are playing in the Amalie Arena, not only will you have the 19,000 plus screaming Tampa Bay Lightning fans behind you, but you will have our beloved Thunderbug cheering you on as well.

As of right now, EA Sports has only unveiled images of what the mascots will look like for ten of the teams in the NHL. Thankfully for those of us here in the Bolts Nation, the Tampa Bay Lightning is one of them.

Other mascots that have been unveiled are Stanley C. Panther from the Florida Panthers, Nordy (Minnesota Wild,) Iceburgh (Pittsburgh Penguins,) Louie (St. Louis Blues,) Slapshot (Washington Capitals,) Moose (Winnipeg Jets,) Youppi! (Montreal Canadiens,) Stinger (Columbus Blue Jackets,) and last but not least, Bailey from the Los Angeles Kings.

EA Sports has promised that they will continue to reveal more NHL mascots over the next few months. The good news is, we won’t have to wait very much longer to see Thunderbug in action. NHL 16 will be released on September 15th in North America and September 17th in Europe.
