Team Europe is set to take on Team Sweden in the last content of the semifinal round at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
The table is almost set for the final round of the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. This afternoon, two of the remaining teams take the ice to battle it out and find out which team, Team Europe or Team Sweden, will be joining Team Canada in the finals.
Both Team Europe and Team Sweden come into today’s game with two wins each in the bag. Team Europe had their one and only loss served up to them by Team Canada on Wednesday, September 22nd. The Canadians would best the Europeans 4-1.
On the other side of the ice, Team Sweden’s one and only loss came in overtime to the young North American team. The North Americans were the Cinderella story coming into the competition. Most people would have loved to see them make it to the finals, but it simply wasn’t meant to be this year.
Tampa Bay Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning have two players involved in today’s matchup. Lightning defensemen Victor Hedman and Anton Stralman will be taking the ice with their native Sweden. With a dynamic duo like Hedman and Stralman on the blueline, the European team is going to have to work overtime to find the back of the net.
Surprisingly, Team Europe was never even considered to be a part of the conversation when it came to the final round of the World Cup of Hockey this year; however, after blanking Team USA 3-0 in the opening game of the tournament, they really went above and beyond to make a name for themselves.
Today is another defining moment for these two teams. One team will head on to the finals to face Team Canada. The other will be headed home to rejoin their respective teams at Training Camp. It will be up to the players on the ice to determine which team wants it more and who will head home with the agony of defeat.
While we wait for all the action to kick off, let’s take a look at all the information you’ll need to make sure you don’t miss a moment of the excitement between Team Europe and Team Sweden in the final semifinal matchup of the 2016 World Cup of Hockey from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

No matter what happens in today’s matchup between Team Europe and Team Sweden, the Tampa Bay Lightning will have at least one player remaining in the competition heading into the final round; Lightning captain Steven Stamkos.
It will be interesting to see what happens if Stamkos is made to come against defensemen like his teammates Victor Hedman and Anton Stralman; especially since Stamkos is still struggling to put the puck in the back of the net during this year’s World Cup of Hockey.
