Don’t miss a single moment of the action as the Tampa Bay Lightning take on the New York Islanders in their second meeting of the season.
The Tampa Bay Lightning kicked off their homestand in royal fashion on Saturday night as they defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-2. There were a number of things which has been out of sync for a good portion of the season which miraculously started clicking once again. All it took was a little shakeup.
Now, the Lightning looks to keep momentum on their side as they open the doors to the Amalie Arena once again to take on the New York Islanders. Tonight’s encounter will be the second of the season between these two teams. Unfortunately, the first meeting didn’t turn out so well for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
By the third period of play, the Lightning found themselves on the business end of a 4-0 deficit. The Bolts played their hearts out in the third period, but it was a classic case of “Too Little, Too Late” and the Lightning would fall to the Islanders by the score of 5-3.
One of the biggest contributors to the Lightning’s victory on Saturday night was the offensive prowess of the Triplets. Ironically enough, even though the former linemates were not paired up on the same line, they all made their presence known on the ice.
When the final buzzer sounded and the game came to a close, Tyler Johnson, Nikita Kucherov, and Ondrej Palat had all come up with two points apiece. Johnson and Kucherov brought home two goals each while Palat brought home two assists. It seems as if they are up to their old tricks again.

The Lightning will have one thing to their advantage tonight. The Islanders are coming into tonight’s contest on the back half of a back-to-back series. Last night, the Islanders paid a visit to the BB&T Center to take on the Lightning’s in-state rivals, the Florida Panthers.
All of this is coming on the heels of a 6-5 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Friday night may be enough to bring them to the brink; something the Lightning can take advantage of. A tired team is one which is susceptible to making simple mistakes. As any hockey fan knows, it’s not always the big mistakes that make one pay.
